Becoming a freelancer: a proven choice
« I have always carried out small projects on my own in parallel with my activities. It all started when I was a student, I gave private lessons in mathematics and computer science. I started by helping students with their school projects. Then I continued by helping SMBs on smaller projects to finally get to my Freelance position for large full-time accounts. »
More than a job, a way of life
« What I love about my freelance life is the freedom. We are free to choose our missions: a complex mission, a less complex mission; a mission in a particular field or a multi-skills mission; a mission in the banking sector or a mission in the health sector. We can also choose the duration: a 3-month mission as a 2-year mission. And of course the format: a full remote mission, on site or a mix of the two. For my part, since I made the choice to be a referent in the Data and IoT fields, it's perfect. I therefore choose missions that are always complex for me by varying the sectors of activity. »
A reality not so obvious
« The most difficult thing for me as a freelancer is the administrative part. That's what took a lot of my time at the beginning. Since I have been working with an accountant, I’ve felt really supported. As a freelancer, I have to focus on my core business which is consulting, so I have to limit the activities that take me too long. However, as a "business manager" you have to know how to manage your business and be well advised. For me, there are 3 important areas of work to be successful as a freelancer: training; innovation; the business. Obviously, it is difficult to work on these 3 axes alone. So I made the choice to be well surrounded to succeed.
I thank Comet for helping me in the business, for finding new clients. For innovation, I work in tandem with Estelle Auberix who is a big name in this field in order to organize international conferences. Finally for training, I train but above all I train other professionals and that's how I evolve the most. »
The secret in the face of fierce competition
« My real strength as a freelancer is that I do a lot of technological watch and I am constantly training. This is what allows me to be in tune with the current market and to place myself on missions in high demand with few experts. In addition, I try to work for large accounts, which adds "stars" to my CV and allows me to access increasingly prestigious missions. »
Innovative projects next door
« In terms of personal projects, I carry out tailor-made training courses for individuals and professionals. What also interests me is to create mobile applications with several simultaneous connections. But what excites me the most is working on humanitarian projects! Indeed, I work with the AP-HP to help the nursing staff to advise on medication for children and babies. »
A promising collaboration
« If this collaboration was to be renewed I would accept with great pleasure! It is a comfortable situation, because I can concentrate only on my mission and my evolution, Comet takes care of everything else, namely: finding a client, invoicing and the freelance relationship between the client and Comet. »
