Published April 1, 2022
Adrien Pusel is a FullStack Javascript developer whose mission is to create an international ERP for all Foncia group agencies. What we liked about Adrien is his approach to freelancing. Highly aware of the need to be agile and responsive in a constantly changing world of work, Adrien does not hesitate to accept assignments for very different companies, from start-ups to large groups, continually training with his peers. He’s tested both ESNs and then Comet to make up his own mind about what works best for him. Check out his astute feedback and intriguing story below!

Why did you decide to be a freelancer?
Because I see everyone in the professional world as partners, clients or competitors. We all need others, and no one can exist alone. I did not find this notion of equality in the classic wage-earning system.
What is your greatest success as a freelancer? your biggest challenge?
To have raised the skills of a work-study student that I supervised. It challenged a lot of my beliefs, and I also understood a lot about my former managers.
What do you like about the (freelancing) lifestyle?
To choose where the money I earn goes, I don't think our generation will have a decent retirement. I invest and I manage my future myself. It's great if all goes well, but I can also make my own mistakes.
How do you work most effectively as a freelancer?
It’s pretty simple, I have to. If I'm not professional, I would lose my client and my reputation is tarnished. Everything is going very fast. I see independents as brands, each is their own and is responsible for growing it.
What do you do to stay competitive among freelancers? (example: self-training)
To combine experiences, I did start-ups (a YC batch), SMEs and now I'm in a big company. Each new experience brings a lot, especially for soft skills. Otherwise I train a lot, at the moment on devOps.
Do you have any side projects or other activities in parallel?
I am writing a blog, I also have some personal projects.
« Before I was at an ESN, and I don't like the way it works at all. Nothing is ever clear about the TJM, because the more they charge for me, the more money they make. What I like with Comet is that it works like an agent, it's a percentage known to everyone, the more I earn the more Comet earns. »

Mission :
